Goals for the Future
Vegetation Corridors:
Goals: The group realises that corridors are vital for the protection of biodiversity. To create other vegetation corridors the group needs to inform landholders about the benefits of preserving flora and fauna habitat and provide incentives for them to actively participate. "To establish five corridors of native vegetation linkages from Murray Sunset to Wyperfeld National Park and two from Annuelllo Block to Bronzewing Reserve.
Water Pricing Review:
Goal: "To reduce area charge to user pays system."
Salinity:
Goal: "To reduce salinity on farm by 60%."
Drought Protection:
Goal: "To have 40% of Mallee properties with 10 ha of old man saltbush as a drought reserve for stock."
Group Development:
The Mallee Landcare Group wishes to increase its membership numbers, develop new projects and encourage younger people to participate in Landcare. It also hopes to keep fees down, secure funding and purchase new equipment for use by the members.
