Mallee Landcare Group

Local farmers came together with the idea to develop a group that could perhaps take on environmental issues on farm. This group derived from active members in the VFF, LPRAC members and various boards or committees at the time.

Murrayville Landcare Group

Murrayville Landcare Group

The Murrayville Landcare group formed in 1993 and covers an area of approximately 22,000ha, from the South Australia border to the locality of Boinka (between the towns of Cowangie and Underbool) with the North and South Boundaries Murray Sunset National Park and Big Desert Wilderness Area respectively. Farming is the major land use in the district, which is mainly broadacre cropping, livestock and irrigated horticulture.

Tempy Land Systems

The Tempy Landsystems group was formed mid 1995. The group has 14 members, this number fluctuates depending on the issues within the area. The total area covered by the Landsystems group is 28, 000 ha. MAP Region 18 North West - MAP - 167 & 168 : 152 & 153 This Map area relates directly to the Direct Drilling program-3 year NHT Project that the group undertook in 1997. The area within the Tempy Landsystems Group is primarily used for dryland agriculture, including crops such as cereals, legumes, pulses, oil seed, medicago species and lucerne. Sheep and lamb production also form an integral part of dryland farming in this region. Beef cattle and boar goats play a lesser role in stock in this area.
